BLITZ launches Lincoln MKS 2009 Microsite, wins FWA Site of the Day Award

Recently, auto-enthusiasts in Los Angeles got a peek at what’s to come at the LA Auto Show. BLITZ, in collaboration with Wunderman-Detroit, launched the MKS 2009 Reveal microsite for Lincoln in conjunction with this event to give luxury fans a preview of the new car.

For this project, the client delivered still shots of the MKS and a list of keywords that included, among others, “elegant,” “simple” and “professional.”  Our challenge was to turn this into a website.  In true BLITZ form, we saw this as an opportunity to push our creative boundaries.  The stylized 3D transitions, including the text, were created using a combination of 3D Studio Max and After Effects.  A total of nine such transitions were created for the car.

Additionally, we integrated nine 720° rotation sequences of the car in different colors to create one interactive video allowing the user to see the same rotation sequence in any color in which the car is offered. These rotation sequences, which provide the bulk of the design for the site, were modeled using the original look and feel BLITZ had created for the site. The use of the rotation sequences created a much more immersive experience for the users allowing them to see more of the car while still maintaining the look and feel of the original site design.

Lastly, we integrated 1100×540 video clips that highlight specific features of the car.  The challenges here were compressing the video to make sure we didn’t compromise quality or performance as well as the creation of transitions between the rotation sequences and the video feature clips. The end result was an elegant and simple site that offers visitors a seamless experience from rotation sequences to videos to detail pages and back.

The FWA awarded the site with a Favorite Site of the Day Award on November 29.

I am an engineer for Ford Motor Company and have spent the last 24 months developing body panel tooling for this car. I LOVE this internet “reveal” ad. Thank-you for putting us forward in this marketing piece. It exudes a lush, yet understated, elegance.

I would like to know the name of the artist and song selected for this ad. The team that put this work together truly delivered! Thank-you.

Just wanted to let you know that I came across an ad for the Lincoln MKS, and though I usually don’t click on web ads, the new car’s design sparked my interest even though I’m not a fan of Lincoln in general. The site you guys put together for this vehicle is amazing — it’s the most immersive, well-built site for a car I’ve seen yet. As a car fan and someone who’s specialized in new media, I’d like to say kudos to you for putting together such a great, attractive project that functions so well for the user!

The music for the MKS Reveal and Launch sites were created in-house at BLITZ.

I have to say, the musical score for this micro-site is incredible, even if it is a loop. I have spent hours trying to find the artist for the score. So have many others. Check google, yahoo message boards, youtube, etc. There is much interest I strongly urge you to release an album. Now get to work!

Hey I went to the Lincoln site but it does not look like the pictures you have posted here. Did Lincoln change the thing???

The site has since been updated, but we’ll try and create a library where you can view past BLITZ projects and include the original version of this site. Thanks for the interest.

I just heard the track for the 2010 MKS. It is even better than the score for this microsite. I would willingly allow a bukkake session (placing myself at lower elevation) in exchange for mere seconds more of ear-tickling trance delightfulness.

i couldn’t find the artist “The Peter Levin Trio” and their song “Levin and Lovin” that was in Lincoln MKS Interior demo microsite. Is this a inhouse composition.
